KTrade Launches Online Trading App to Simplify PSX Account Opening and Digital Investment Access

KTrade Securities Limited has launched a new online trading application designed to simplify access to Pakistan’s capital markets by allowing prospective investors to begin the brokerage account-opening process digitally. The application is available through both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store and allows users to sign up directly from their mobile devices, complete the required documentation digitally and initiate the account-opening process without relying on a traditional paperwork-driven journey. Once an account is active and funded, customers can access the trading platform through the application. The launch represents another development in the digitization of Pakistan’s investment ecosystem, where brokerage firms are increasingly using mobile applications and online onboarding to reduce the administrative barriers associated with opening investment accounts. Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) itself supports online account opening through participating securities brokers, allowing potential investors to initiate stock-market investment accounts remotely.

The new KTrade application is positioned around convenience, accessibility and an improved digital customer experience. Mahmood Ali Shah Bukhari, CEO of KTrade Securities, described the launch as an important milestone in the company’s digital transformation, while M. Hozaifa Ejaz, Managing Director Tech Products & Digital, said the company would continue developing its digital platforms in response to changing investor expectations and technology. The application allows customers to complete key stages of the onboarding process through their smartphones, subject to applicable regulatory requirements and account-opening procedures. In addition to the mobile application, KTrade customers can use the company’s Web Trading Portal through a desktop or laptop, giving investors another channel for accessing their trading experience. KTrade currently describes itself as a regulated platform offering access to stocks, commodity futures, money market products and ETFs, alongside research and investment-related services.

The launch comes after KTrade has already been involved in efforts to digitize access to Pakistan’s stock market through its partnership with easypaisa. In September, easypaisa and KTrade announced a collaboration enabling users to open a KTrade PSX investment account directly through the easypaisa application. That initiative allowed eligible users to complete the onboarding process digitally, with the companies reporting that the partnership recorded the highest single-day investment account onboarding volume in PSX history. The collaboration involved stakeholders including the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, National Clearing Company of Pakistan and Central Depository Company, reflecting the broader movement toward digitalizing the infrastructure surrounding retail investment. KTrade’s new standalone application builds on this wider shift by providing another digital route through which prospective investors can enter the capital markets and manage their trading activity.

The expansion of digital brokerage services is also consistent with PSX’s broader efforts to make market participation more accessible through technology. The exchange maintains an online account-opening facility through which investors can identify brokerage houses offering remote account-opening services, while its framework for online-only brokers also provides for fully digitized customer onboarding, trading and reporting. For investors, mobile-based onboarding can reduce the need for physical visits and paperwork while allowing brokerage firms to offer services to customers across different locations. However, opening an account remains subject to applicable regulatory checks, documentation and funding requirements before trading can begin. KTrade’s latest application therefore adds another digital channel to Pakistan’s growing financial technology ecosystem, connecting mobile technology with brokerage services and capital-market participation. As more financial activities move onto digital platforms, simplified account opening and online trading tools could make it easier for new retail investors to explore the formal investment market while giving established investors more convenient ways to access their brokerage services.
