Karandaaz Partners With Kissan Gudam To Modernise Agricultural Ecosystem

Karandaaz Pakistan has entered into a partnership with Kissan Gudam, a venture of the Hajisons Group, to provide funding and strategic support aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s farming communities and modernising the agricultural ecosystem. The collaboration brings together financial support, agricultural infrastructure and market access to address some of the challenges faced by smallholder farmers and improve their participation in the formal economy.

The partnership will integrate modern storage infrastructure, digital financial services and direct market access into a single platform designed to provide farmers with greater support throughout the agricultural value chain. By connecting these services, the initiative aims to help smallholder farmers protect their yields, improve access to financing and secure more sustainable livelihoods while creating a more connected agricultural ecosystem.

A key component of the collaboration is financing based on Electronic Warehouse Receipts (EWRs), which can allow farmers to use stored agricultural commodities as a basis for accessing formal credit. This approach is intended to improve farmers’ access to fair financing while helping them avoid pressure to sell their produce immediately after harvest. Better storage facilities can also help reduce post-harvest losses and give farmers greater flexibility in deciding when to bring their produce to market.

The initiative also focuses on improving market transparency and connecting farmers directly with market opportunities. Combining storage, financing and market access within a unified platform could help smallholder farmers participate more effectively in formal financial and agricultural systems while improving visibility across the supply chain. The partnership therefore addresses both financial and operational barriers that can limit the ability of farming communities to benefit from their production.

Through its collaboration with Kissan Gudam, Karandaaz Pakistan aims to support a more modern and financially connected agricultural ecosystem in Pakistan. The integration of storage infrastructure, EWR-based financing, digital financial services and direct market access is expected to provide smallholder farmers with tools to protect their produce, access credit and participate more effectively in formal markets.
