Easypaisa digital bank has become the first Acquirer Bank to go live on the BISP Interoperability Project, marking a development in Pakistan’s digital payments and government-to-person payment ecosystem. The initiative is designed to make it easier for beneficiaries of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) to access their payments through participating bank retailers.
Under the interoperability project, BISP beneficiaries will be able to withdraw their payments through participating bank retailers regardless of where their Social Protection Wallet is maintained. This setup allows beneficiaries to access funds through a broader network rather than being restricted to a specific institution or location associated with their wallet.
The development is aimed at improving convenience and accessibility for beneficiaries across Pakistan by connecting different participants within the financial ecosystem. By enabling withdrawals through participating bank retailers, the interoperability model can provide beneficiaries with greater flexibility when accessing social protection payments through digital financial channels.
easypaisa digital bank’s role as the first Acquirer Bank to go live represents a step toward a more connected payment infrastructure for BISP beneficiaries. The initiative brings together social protection payments and interoperable financial services, supporting broader access to digital payment channels and reducing limitations around where beneficiaries can withdraw their funds.
The BISP Interoperability Project also reflects the growing use of digital infrastructure in government payment programmes. By enabling beneficiaries to access payments through participating bank retailers irrespective of their Social Protection Wallet provider, the initiative aims to create a more accessible and connected financial ecosystem across Pakistan.
