BISP disbursements underway in Hyderabad, Matiari and Rahim Yar Khan

KARACHI: The first tranche of disbursements for the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is underway by JazzCash in collaboration with Mobilink Microfinance Bank, a significant step towards social empowerment, a statement said on Tuesday.

So far, over Rs 1 billion has been disbursed in campsites in Hyderabad, Matiari, and Rahim Yar Khan.Under this partnership, JazzCash and Mobilink Microfinance Bank are utilizing their extensive network of agents to disburse funds to 1.3 million BISP-registered women beneficiaries across Pakistan. To ensure responsible and dignified disbursements, special camps have been established at disbursement centres to raise financial literacy among women, ensuring they are well-informed and empowered to use the funds effectively.

In a message, Chairperson of BISP Rubina Khalid emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in uplifting marginalized communities. She highlighted the significant role that such collaborations play in ensuring that financial aid reaches those who need it the most.

To ensure smooth disbursements, JazzCash has also set up a dedicated complaint management cell with agents fluent in regional languages. This cell ensures that all beneficiaries receive timely and effective assistance. Additionally, JazzCash, Mobilink Microfinance Bank, and BISP are taking steps to facilitate people with disabilities and elderly women who struggle to get their fingerprints verified. These groups are being issued debit cards to easily withdraw funds from any ATM.

The partnership aims to make timely disbursements to women across Pakistan. In Sindh, the districts of Sanghar, Nawabshah, Mirpurkhas, Tharparkar, Matiari, Umerkot, Sujawal, Tando Allahyar, Tando Mohammad Khan, and Hyderabad will be covered, whereas Kaharan and Chaghai in Balochistan, Rahim Yar Khan in Punjab, and Malakand in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be covered.
