Thomson Reuters has partnered with SpendConsole.ai to combine electronic invoicing and tax compliance capabilities with AI-powered accounts-payable automation for organisations across the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the wider Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Announced through Thomson Reuters MENA, the collaboration brings together ONESOURCE Pagero, the company’s e-invoicing solution, and SpendConsole’s Enterprise Payables Orchestration platform. The integrated offering is intended to help businesses streamline financial workflows, automate compliance-related processes and respond to changing invoicing and tax requirements across the region. The announcement reflects growing interest in finance technology that connects regulatory compliance with day-to-day business operations, particularly as organisations face increasing requirements to digitise invoice exchanges and improve the management of supplier payments and financial records.
Under the partnership, ONESOURCE Pagero contributes e-invoicing and network-based compliance capabilities, while SpendConsole.ai brings technology designed to coordinate enterprise payables processes using artificial intelligence. Accounts payable typically involves receiving supplier invoices, validating transaction details, checking approvals, applying relevant financial controls and arranging payments. When these activities depend on disconnected systems or manual processing, businesses can face delays, inconsistent records and additional administrative work. Integrating payables orchestration with electronic invoicing can help organisations connect invoice data with internal workflows and compliance checks. The companies say their combined solution is designed to reduce complexity and improve operational efficiency for finance and tax teams. However, the announcement did not disclose specific performance figures, implementation timelines, pricing or the number of businesses expected to adopt the integrated platform.
Electronic invoicing has become an important area of digital finance as governments introduce frameworks requiring businesses to exchange invoices in standardised digital formats and meet tax-reporting obligations. In the UAE, the Ministry of Finance is advancing an e-invoicing framework based on the Peppol network, with implementation requirements affecting business-to-business and business-to-government transactions. Thomson Reuters offers ONESOURCE Pagero to support electronic invoice exchange and compliance with relevant requirements, including integration with existing enterprise resource planning and financial systems. For companies operating across multiple GCC markets, regulatory differences can create additional complexity because invoicing formats, reporting obligations and implementation schedules may vary by jurisdiction. Combining e-invoicing capabilities with payables automation could help finance teams manage these processes within connected workflows, although businesses will still need to confirm that their chosen configuration meets the rules applicable to their operations.
The partnership also highlights the role of AI and cloud technology in the evolution of corporate finance. Payables orchestration platforms can coordinate information and tasks across finance systems, while automated invoicing tools help businesses exchange transaction documents and address compliance requirements. Thomson Reuters said the collaboration also brings together network-based compliance and sovereign cloud deployment, positioning the offering for organisations with regional data-handling and operational requirements. The companies have not publicly detailed the deployment architecture, the jurisdictions covered by the sovereign cloud arrangement, or whether the solution will be available under identical terms throughout the GCC. Businesses considering adoption will need to assess integration with existing accounting and enterprise systems, data governance, local regulatory requirements and the extent of automation supported by their chosen configuration.
