TASDEEQ has signed a Membership and Service Agreement with Anfaa Microfinance Pvt. Limited to expand access to credit information and support responsible lending practices in Pakistan. The agreement, announced by TASDEEQ on LinkedIn, establishes a formal relationship between the credit information provider and the microfinance institution, with both organisations expressing a shared commitment to informed credit decisions and broader financial inclusion. The partnership reflects the role of credit information services in helping financial institutions assess borrowers and make lending decisions based on available credit data. By connecting microfinance providers with credit information systems, such arrangements can contribute to more structured lending processes and improve the information available when evaluating loan applications.
The agreement was signed by Omar Khalid, Chief Operating Officer of TASDEEQ, and Tufail Rajpar, Chief Executive Officer of Anfaa Microfinance. The signing marks another collaboration between organisations operating within Pakistan’s financial services sector, where access to reliable borrower information is an important consideration for lenders. Microfinance institutions serve individuals, small businesses and other borrowers who may have limited access to conventional banking products. Assessing these applicants requires appropriate information about their financial obligations, repayment records and creditworthiness. Credit information services can help lenders evaluate applications more consistently, provided the data used is accurate, relevant and handled in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
For Anfaa Microfinance, the membership and service arrangement is intended to support access to credit information that can inform lending decisions. Credit data can help financial institutions assess existing borrowing commitments and identify potential repayment risks before extending financing. This process can contribute to responsible lending by helping institutions determine whether a proposed loan is appropriate for an applicant’s financial circumstances. Credit information systems may also help reduce information gaps between lenders, particularly where borrowers have existing financial relationships with multiple institutions. However, the announcement did not disclose the specific services covered by the agreement, the technical integration process, or the timeline for implementation. It also did not provide details about the number of borrowers expected to benefit from the arrangement.
The partnership highlights the importance of credit information infrastructure as Pakistan’s microfinance sector continues to serve a diverse range of customers. Wider access to reliable credit records can support more informed financing decisions and help financial institutions manage lending risks while expanding access to eligible borrowers. For these benefits to materialise, institutions must maintain accurate records, protect borrowers’ personal and financial information, and follow appropriate procedures for handling disputes or correcting inaccurate data. TASDEEQ and Anfaa Microfinance have positioned their agreement as a step towards a more inclusive, credit-enabled financial ecosystem. The practical impact will depend on how the services are implemented and integrated into lending operations, as well as their effectiveness in supporting responsible credit assessments and improving the quality of decisions made by participating financial institutions.
