Al Meezan Investment Management and IU CEIF Partner to Advance Islamic Finance Education

Al Meezan Investment Management Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Iqra University Centre for Excellence in Islamic FinTech (IU CEIF) to expand collaboration in Islamic finance and Islamic FinTech. The partnership will create opportunities for professional training and certification, research collaborations, workshops and seminars, student and faculty engagement, internships, career development, thought leadership and knowledge-sharing initiatives. The agreement brings Al Meezan’s experience in investment management together with the academic and research capabilities of IU CEIF, providing a platform for greater interaction between Pakistan’s financial services industry and academia. The collaboration is aimed at developing professional knowledge and creating opportunities for students, faculty members, researchers and industry professionals to engage with developments in Islamic finance and financial technology. IU CEIF, established by Iqra University, focuses on education, research, innovation and industry engagement in Islamic finance and Islamic FinTech.

Under the agreement, Al Meezan and IU CEIF will collaborate on professional training and certification initiatives designed to develop specialized knowledge in Islamic finance and related financial technology areas. Workshops and seminars will provide platforms for students, academics and financial-sector professionals to exchange knowledge and discuss developments affecting the industry. The partnership also covers research collaboration, allowing researchers and faculty members to work with industry professionals on subjects relevant to Islamic finance, investment management and FinTech. Student and faculty engagement forms another part of the agreement, with internships and career development opportunities intended to provide participants with exposure to professional practices. These initiatives can help connect academic learning with practical requirements in the financial services sector while creating channels for financial institutions to engage with emerging talent and research capabilities.

The partnership comes as Islamic FinTech continues to develop alongside Pakistan’s wider digital financial services sector. Financial institutions, technology companies and academic institutions are increasingly focusing on areas including digital banking, digital payments, artificial intelligence, blockchain, digital assets, cybersecurity, risk management and regulatory compliance. IU CEIF has developed educational and professional initiatives covering several of these areas as part of its focus on Islamic finance and FinTech. The centre’s activities include professional certification programmes, seminars, panel discussions and engagement with financial-sector organizations. Its broader objective is to provide a platform where academic research and industry requirements can interact, particularly as technology changes the way financial products and services are developed and delivered. The collaboration with Al Meezan adds an investment-management perspective to these activities and provides another channel for students and professionals to engage with the Islamic financial services industry.

For Al Meezan Investment Management, the MoU provides an opportunity to participate in professional education, research, talent development and knowledge-sharing initiatives connected with Islamic finance and FinTech. For IU CEIF and Iqra University, collaboration with an established investment management company can provide students and researchers with additional exposure to practical industry requirements and career opportunities. The agreement also establishes a framework for continued engagement through training programmes, seminars, workshops, research activities and thought leadership initiatives. The partners have not announced specific internship numbers, certification schedules or individual research projects under the MoU, but the broad areas identified in the announcement cover education, professional development, research and industry engagement. The partnership therefore adds another avenue for connecting Pakistan’s Islamic financial services sector with academic institutions while supporting the development of skills and knowledge in Islamic finance and FinTech.
