Faysal Bank is conducting Awareness and Account Opening Sessions across its branches in Karachi on September 14 and 15, as part of activities tied to National Financial Literacy, with the sessions open to members of the general public.
According to the bank, the sessions are designed to give attendees an opportunity to learn more about Shariah compliant banking and the process of opening an account, with each session scheduled to begin at 3 PM at participating branches across the city. Interested members of the public have been advised to contact their nearest Faysal Bank branch beforehand to confirm the specific day and timing at that location, since scheduling appears to vary across different branches rather than following a single fixed citywide timetable. The initiative falls under Faysal Bank’s ongoing engagement with National Financial Literacy efforts, an area where several banks in Pakistan have been encouraged to run public facing programs aimed at improving general understanding of banking products and services.
Alongside the announcement, Faysal Bank also drew attention to a separate initiative introduced by the State Bank of Pakistan, which has set up a dedicated portal named Sunwai to allow members of the public to lodge complaints related to banking issues. The portal is accessible through a web link as well as a mobile application available on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store, giving complainants more than one way to access the system depending on their device preference. Faysal Bank noted that a tutorial explaining how to register a complaint through the Sunwai system has also been made available, suggesting the central bank is trying to make the complaint filing process easier to navigate for members of the public who may not be familiar with formal banking dispute channels.
The combination of the literacy sessions and the reference to the Sunwai portal reflects a broader emphasis within Pakistan’s banking sector on improving both financial awareness and consumer protection mechanisms simultaneously, rather than treating the two as separate priorities. For Faysal Bank specifically, the Karachi sessions add to its continued positioning around Islamic banking education, an area the bank has highlighted in previous initiatives as well, while the mention of the SBP complaint portal signals an effort to connect public facing outreach with existing regulatory tools already available to banking customers across the country.
