NIBAF Pakistan Announces Digital Lending Risk Compliance Training Workshop

NIBAF Pakistan has announced a specialized one-day training workshop titled “Digital Lending Platforms: Risk & Compliance Challenges,” scheduled for August 19, 2026, at its Lahore Campus. The training will run from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and is designed to provide professionals with practical knowledge of the risks, regulatory requirements and compliance challenges associated with digital lending platforms. The training investment is set at PKR 18,000 plus applicable tax per person, with August 18, 2026 set as the last date for nominations. The programme is aimed at professionals working across banks, microfinance institutions, fintech companies, digital lenders, non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs) and regulatory bodies that are involved in or responsible for digital lending and financial services.

The course will examine Pakistan’s digital lending landscape, including business models, market participants and the regulatory responsibilities associated with digital credit. According to the programme details, participants will explore the roles of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), including the dual regulatory architecture applicable to different parts of the digital lending ecosystem. The training will also cover key regulatory requirements related to prudential regulations, e-KYC, digital banks and electronic money institutions, outsourcing, cybersecurity rules and other applicable frameworks. Participants will also examine the regulatory circulars and requirements governing digital lending products and processes.

The workshop will focus on practical risk areas that can emerge throughout the digital lending lifecycle, including credit, operational, fraud, model, liquidity and reputational risks. The course will also address consumer protection and data governance considerations, with the programme highlighting the importance of identifying and managing risks before launching digital lending operations. Participants are expected to gain an understanding of how regulatory requirements can be applied to real product and process decisions, while also examining areas such as fair-recovery obligations and compliance requirements under both SBP and SECP regulatory frameworks.

The training will be facilitated by Syed Asghar Hussain, a senior banking and fintech executive with more than 20 years of experience across SME finance, microfinance, digital banking and management consulting. He currently serves as EVP and Head of Digital Strategy at Parwaaz Financial Services Limited (PFSL), a SECP-regulated NBFC, where he leads digital strategy and digital SME lending. His professional experience includes senior product and strategy roles at Raqami Islamic Digital Bank, Bank Alfalah’s Digital Banking Group, FINCA Microfinance Bank, Standard Chartered Bank and Tameer/Telenor Microfinance Bank. According to NIBAF Pakistan, his experience includes practitioner-level exposure to both SBP and SECP regulatory frameworks governing digital credit.

The workshop reflects the growing focus on risk management and regulatory compliance as digital lending continues to develop across Pakistan’s financial services sector. NIBAF Pakistan is positioning the programme as a practical learning opportunity for professionals seeking to understand the regulatory and operational requirements surrounding digital credit. The training will combine facilitator-led sessions, guided discussions, case studies and a small-group launch-checklist exercise. Professionals interested in participating are required to submit nominations by August 18, with registration and further details available through NIBAF Pakistan’s designated contact channels.
