BankIslami Launches Homegrown AI Driven FOCUS Platform to Automate Credit Underwriting

BankIslami has officially launched its fully homegrown Finance Origination and Credit Underwriting System, a sophisticated technological platform designed to completely digitalize and accelerate the entire customer financing journey. This newly deployed system, known as FOCUS, leverages advanced artificial intelligence driven automation to comprehensively reengineer the bank credit underwriting processes from initial customer inquiry all the way through to final fund disbursement. By replacing legacy manual credit procedures with a highly standardized, automated, and AI driven framework, the bank ensures that this advanced operational workflow is enforced uniformly across its entire national branch network. The introduction of this system marks a major step forward in modernizing the domestic Islamic banking infrastructure.

The strategic deployment of FOCUS directly elevates both the overall quality and the structural consistency of credit decisions across the institution while simultaneously reducing customer turnaround times. Because the entire platform was developed from the ground up by the internal technology team at BankIslami, the successful launch represents an important financial and strategic milestone for the financial institution. By eliminating any reliance on external vendor partners for software licensing, complex system customization, and ongoing technical maintenance, the bank has successfully optimized its operational efficiency and retained complete control over its digital intellectual property. This move sets a strong precedent for self reliance in the local banking technology ecosystem.

Speaking on the launch of this proprietary technology, Rizwan Ata, the President and Chief Executive Officer of BankIslami, emphasized that the customers remain the absolute center of every action and operational innovation undertaken by the institution. He noted that the primary goal behind this launch is to greatly simplify the customer financing journey, making it more transparent and accessible. He further explained that FOCUS represents much more than a standard technology upgrade for the institution, serving instead as a clear statement of what the internal workforce is capable of building when dedicated to an overarching corporate mission centered on providing authentic Shariah compliant solutions.

The deployment of this automated credit underwriting system adds to the growing portfolio of digital and operational transformation initiatives managed by BankIslami as the institution continues to expand its branch network and deepen its financial service offerings. By integrating artificial intelligence into the core underwriting mechanism, the bank is better positioned to manage risk profiles, analyze credit histories accurately, and scale its financing operations without proportional increases in administrative overhead. This operational evolution aligns closely with broader industry trends where financial institutions increasingly rely on predictive analytics and machine learning to secure lending portfolios while enhancing user experience.

Ultimately, this technological milestone positions BankIslami as a forward thinking leader in the competitive landscape of Islamic finance within Pakistan. The successful rollout of FOCUS demonstrates that domestic banking institutions possess the technical capability to design, build, and deploy enterprise grade financial software without relying on expensive international platforms. As the system becomes deeply integrated into daily branch operations, the efficiencies gained are expected to drive substantial growth in the bank customer financing segment, providing a faster, smoother, and completely digital onboarding experience for retail and corporate clients alike.
