11.11 Shopping Bonanza: A Closer Look at Consumer Trends in Pakistan

The annual 11.11 shopping extravaganza, a phenomenon imported from China, has firmly established itself in Pakistan’s consumer calendar. Despite economic challenges, the event continues to attract significant interest, with consumers eager to capitalize on attractive discounts and deals.

Originally introduced by Daraz in 2018, 11.11 has rapidly evolved from an online shopping event to a broader retail phenomenon. With increasing internet penetration and smartphone usage, the event has gained immense popularity, driving both online and offline sales.

While the allure of significant discounts remains, consumers are becoming more cautious due to rising inflation and economic uncertainty. This shift in consumer behavior is prompting retailers to offer strategic deals and promotions to entice shoppers.

According to Moiz Siddiqui, Director Commercial at Daraz Pakistan, fashion, health and beauty, FMCG, and electronics are expected to be the top-performing categories during this year’s 11.11. To combat rising prices, Daraz is offering discounts of up to 80% on a wide range of products. Additionally, the platform is extending free delivery across its entire platform for the first time, aiming to attract more shoppers.

As consumers become more discerning, understanding their needs and preferences is crucial. Gamification and limited-time flash sales are effective strategies to engage shoppers and create a sense of urgency. By offering compelling deals and a seamless shopping experience, e-commerce platforms like Daraz can capitalize on the 11.11 opportunity and drive significant growth.
